I hear that the Gov intends to build another 32,000 windturbines, that's a lot! I used to be sceptical but I'd rather live near on of them than a Nuclear plant. A friend tells me that the engineers are having problems lubricating the gears, someone should tell them that the old windmills work well with wooden gears ;D Are you in favour of them, even in your back yard?

They will be all around here soon. I don't think I would mind a few, but I don't want to see them in every direction I look. They're constructing a new road to one of the proposed sites near here, and it's going right past people's houses, which used to be quite remote, and they don't give * . There's uproar about it. I think they're only building them because there's money to be made out of it. If there wasn't, they wouldn't think of having them, no matter how much they helped the environment. Apparently they're only going to last 25 years, and they only work about 40% of the time. It hardly seems woth the bother to me.

It is all down to money. The government have a target to meet for renewable energy so they are paying big money to anyone who will produce it. We have just had solar panels fitted, the government are paying us 46p for every kilowatt we produce, that is just to produce it, we can use that energy free of charge, we don't have to feed it into the grid. If we do feed it into the grid the electricity board pay us 3p per kw.
I'm afraid I wouldn't spend that kind of money to be 'green', we are doing it to make money and have free electricity.

I love those wind turbines, we drive out of our way to see the ones in Cornwall. The farmer has one on the hill at the back of us, it is not a huge one but it is still impressive, it wouldn't bother me having them here.

The Gov's deal is good but for me it would take too long to offset the initial cost. Good for you WF.

It will take us four years to recoup our money, the government are contracted to pay us for 25 years, plus we get free electricity.

I love the wind turbines, we very recently looked into having one in our paddock, but at £48,000 we will be giving it a miss

we looked into it when they were advertising 'rent a roof', but we were too late, it was just before the gov't changed it all, so we'll have to carry on paying
