We eat one third of our annual sprout consumption over Christmas and the sprout season starts as early as July. Does anyone know of a good way to make them more appealing? I don't have a problem as I like them in fact I'm thinking of growing them next year and will need your advice.

No wonder Delia said...... " Where are you? Where are you? Let's be having you. Come on." She probably drank the wine first and put her mouth where her money is ;D

I really like sprouts and eat them every week. If you are growing them Merlin, they say the red ones are good and they would be different. I won't grow these or cabbages, because everything that creeps, crawls and flies come after them.

I assume that the commercial growers use 'stuff' to kill bugs and bangers to scare the pigeons. The first thing for me as I've little space is, could I grow them as a 'catch crop' after say broad beans have been cleared? If so I could cover them to keep the Cabbage whites out.

I like them cooked plain, but best of all in "bubble and squeak"

Thanks Steve, I'll leave them longer. Does warm weather hold them back? I was wondering if I planted them later.
This time last year I had to buy some for Christmas because we'd eaten them all. This year I'll be buying them because they are not ready yet. It is a good job I don't have to rely on my garden ;D
