I was thinking of buying things there as presents for my old friends back home, except I'm not sure how long it usually takes and if the quality of the merchandise is okay or not.

There are plenty of gimicky and jokey goods, do a search for anything you like they sell loads, I think it is a big Jersey Co and most is sent out VAT free...8GB SD memory cards for a fiver
