Sorry to hear that Louise, it will be expensive! My Brother sent me an email yesterday from Spain, wanted money, said he'd been mugged, I recon you know the rest. He should have known better than to create a new password on BT (so called) I hope it doesn't cost toooo much for you!

Sorry to hear that - what a nuisance! Do you think it was the 'Mastermind' site, Louise? If so, I'm going to delete it.

Well, i have lost everything on here. No photos left, nothing, all the items that i personally have ever entered have gone I sent you the original and first post here from my smart phone (internet facility etc), the compter worked but i had none of my own input in there. I had a computer person see to it (didn't cost me anything) and they've de-bugged the machine and corrected and reinstalled what they could but essentially all the favourite sites, photos, anything i personally had stored in there has gone. I'm livid Yes, Geranium, i'm 100% certain it was the Mastermind site. If, whilst you're on there (or any site for that matter), your computer shuts down without warning and instantly starts again DO NOT return to the site you were on (in my case Mastermind), go anywhere else but there ! I'll be giving it a bit of a wide berth for a while.

Sorry to hear that Louise. I hope you can get it fixed. I hope it won't cost too much either. Funny thing, my computer shut itself down yesterday, for no reason at all. It just did it. I was on another garden site but nothing else, so I don't know why it did it. Also, maybe your photos etc are still there on the hard drive. I remember once a few yrs ago, my computer just went off after I'd been looking up the name of a plant - I had got on to a site which showed a bearded man,and then it just went off. I took it in to the computer shop and I was told a virus had damaged it, but all the photos were still there on the hard drive. The chap in the shop transferred them on to a new hard drive for me, and I've got that now as a separate thing. I can plug it in to my pc or laptop, and I us it to store all my photos etc, so thay if anything happens again, I've got copies Oh sorry that all sounds complicated lol - but I hope you can find your stuff and get your computer working again soon.

Louise it all sounds terrible, but your experience is helping us and experiences (Hywel) are coming out now with information on how to deal with the virus. Thankyou Louise for the information and warnings you have given us when you did not have to do this.

As a precaution I have removed the link to that site, most people know it now if they want to go there to do the quiz

Probably just as well, Steve - I've deleted it from my laptop. I had a virus a couple of months ago - my laptop had to have a thorough clean-up which cost, of course! I don't want Louise's experience, either.

I think a few of us have had mega computer problems over the years but usually it gets sorted out in the end. My self control has been severely tried of late but I have reisted the temptation (so far) to sling the PC out the window. I once lost a computer due to a virus but ever since have taken the precautions necessary to avoid a repetition. (touching wood again) I stopped using the quiz site quite soon after it started but for the life of me I don't know why. Some sort of feeling that all was not well. I listen to my feelings no matter how odd they may seem as in the past it has served me well. Maybe that is why I sometimes instinctively know where not to put a plant or how to carry out some garden procedure that I haven't done before. Could just be green fingers though. ;D Hope you get it sorted Louise.
