I just love Kerr's Pinks. This would be my favourite. They don't grow as well here as they want a wetter climate.

I bought 7lb of Lady Christl yesterday for £2, it seemed like a good price, they were a variety recommended on here, are eelworm resistant and they were the variety which had sold the most. They ticked all the boxes so that is what I'll try this year.
Should I start chitting them now or wait for a while?

I've not set my first earlies out in trays yet WF, I usually end up trying to hold them back a bit

When I went to the GC over the weekend they had no Lady Christl left so I shall have to try elsewhere. The chap at the GC said they are one of their most popular seed potatoes

I see Wilkos have a fair selection in store now. Did't get any as I was weighed down with other things. As for chitting spuds, I always set them up in egg trays as soon as I get them. Somewhere light but frost free.. Any leggy shoots you can always rub out as you don't need them all.

That is good to know Peony. I normally choose the variety which has sold the most, it's not very scientific but it has worked so far. This year (for the first time) I made a note of the variety in my diary, now all I need to do is remember to make a note as to whether we like them or not.

How great is it that the forum is a year old? Looking back I found out that last year I grew Arran Pilot and started chitting them on the 22nd January, Steve, you had also started chitting yours by then too. Last year it was one of the first threads we started in this section.

Mine are still sitting on the kitchen table, I might start them off later.
Next year these threads might not be so easy to find.
