After much deliberation and head scratching I've finally got myself a Pressure washer. I slipped on my stone pathway yet again over Christmas so that finally convinced me. After a shaky start I got the hang of it and in a couple of hours I'd done all the Yorkstone which now is not only clean but colourful too. I also blasted off all the sphagnum moss from the sandstone surrounding the raised beds. The moss looked quite nice but it spreads onto the soil. I was disappointed at it's performance on the cars but then I haven't any soap with it, I may try again but it's no bother to do them the old fashioned way. Glad I went for the HP2800 as the actual size of the effective contact area is about an inch n' a half.

Well done and I hope you have many years of happiness with your new play thing ;D. I wouldn't be too worried about the car as I find power washing alone will not get it clean unless you spend alot of time doing it. You still need to sponge it with hot soapy water to get the result.

'specially if you park under where the birds roost

Having spent £150 I'm relieved as at first it didn't seem to do the job. It's a case of getting the hang of it (or reading the instructions) It will be interesting to see how long the slabs will stay clean but I've been told that it will clean the cars but that they need a pre-soak and special soap. I've also been told that if you're not to careful it will damage the door seals. Strange thing is that it made easy work of shifting the moss/dirt but the blobs of Lichen are untouched which is rather nice. OK it cost £50 more than I would have liked but it does the job so much quicker. I'm wondering if it will get the moss from under the greenhouse panes !!!!!

We use that soap on the vans. It's expensive and good but for a car, a sponge, warm water and some fairy liquid is unbeatable. The slabs will need to be done more often as I believe power washing removes an outer coat, but what the hell, they're safe. Now merlin it's not a magic wand, I'd be careful cleaning the greenhouse with it. ;D
