Just wondering if any one on the forum has a dual fuel range cooker? We` are putting in a new kitchen next month and always wanted one , but the reviews are mixed . I`m afraid of buying an expensive headache.

Go for it Ladybird. Lucky, lucky you. There was one here when we came in, but it really had 'had it'. The Rayburn heats everything, but possibly the Aga doesn't. I have experience in Scotand with the Stanley, and my childhood was spent with an Esse and then a Carmichael. I would probably look at oil like my neighbour has.

I`m afraid a AGA or similar is way out of my price range Cherry. I was thinking rather of a conventional cooker that looks like a range . I had been contemplating a rangemaster kitchener but I`d really like a cream Stoves Richmond 1100 it has four ovens and seven gas burners and looks great but a few reviews mention the enamel coming of the doors and a little bit of rust after a few years. It`s about £1400

That is still a lot of money Ladybird. I don't know about these cookers at all.

My brother has one which is gas and electric, his has 3 ovens, four burners and an electric hot plate (he could have had six burners). Having used his I would definitely get one if I were putting in a new kitchen. I wouldn't go for a gas hob though, there is far too much fiddly cleaning. I'd have an electric, glass hob, they are as responsive as gas and only take a quick wipe to clean

That does look very similar to my brothers but I expect all range cookers look like range cookers. His is 12 years old and still looks good, he has had to replace a thermostat and now the clock buttons have got an intermittent problem, this doesn’t sound too serious but if there is a power cut the cooker wont work until the clock has been reset. Modern technology
