Our Village is planning to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee, if I had room I'd plant a Liquidambar, sadly I've no room for even a small one. I'll probably make a modest donation somewhere. Are you planning to plant one?

Are we being asked to plant a tree for the Jubilee I was invited to escort HM down the Thames but I pulled out as the cost spiralled. Sad cos it would have been an amazing experience. Planting a tree is nice though.

I saw the bit about planting new wood and forests on the news this morning, they didn't mention about individuals doing it too, a bit of a slip up there Now I have an excuse all I need to do is decide what tree to plant ;D

On the news that I saw this morning it was mentioned that they hoped indiviuals would plant trees in their own gardens to celebrate the Jubilee.
Our local park's Friends group are getting 450 native species of trees from the Woodland Trust and we are planting them to make a Jubilee Wood.

I have been told I would qualify for some free trees and know someone who is getting some and having them planted for him too.
The Queen planted an oak yesterday at Sandringham. The Woodland Trust aims to plant six million trees as part of the jubilee project.

Great idea to plant all these trees to make new woodlands. But have they not been planting trees up and down the land for years now.

That's fab, did they have to buy them? A couple of years ago the Woodland trust (I think it was them) tried to break the tree planting record, the trees were free then, all you had to do was pick them up from your local GS. If you planned to plant lots, they were supplied directly.

They are still free if you qualify. I haven't looked into it, but the farm opposite got some a couple of years ago and the villagers planted them.

That's fab, did they have to buy them? I understand that local councils were asked to submit requests for trees free from the Woodland Trust. Our council's request was successful and is planting several Jubilee woods around the area in liaison with various groups. Our Friend's group plan to plant 450 trees in March and we are inviting 3 local schools and the cubs group to help us. There is plenty of info on the Woodland Trust's website.

That's great Cowslip, around here trees are always disappearing without being replaced, farmers don't like them getting in the way of the tractor. I assume that the Woodland trust will provide the anti-rabbit covers, have you ever priced them in the GC !!! I think it's good that Children get involved in planting.
