I always back mine up onto a portable hard drive after I've put them on the laptop as I'd be heartbroken if I lost them.

We all agree the photos are so important. I too have an ext HD but I use 'cloud' too, called 'Livedrive' from Dixons/PC World

You can re-set your pc to a date before you lost them.

Digital photography is good because it is instant and so much cheaper, but the old film format did mean you had to get them printed so always had copies.

I’ve got albums full of photographs (pre digital) but since I got a digital camera I have never had a photograph printed.
