They told me at the pre-op assessment that I'd lose my appetite, and OH is encouraged to bring dainty morsels in to tempt me...so I gather that the hospital food isn't up to much. I had to order button-through nighties. I hadn't though of that! I was annoyed when they weighed and measured me. I've lost 9 lbs, but I seem to have shrunk by 1.5", so I'm still a kilo above the level on their 'healthy weight' chart. I shall lose that in hospital, obviously. I'll try to keep the weight off afterwards, as I still won't be able to do much exercise for ages.

At my pre-assessment I told the nurse I didn't want to know how much I weighed ;D The food in our hospital was awful - the staff were 1st class ;D I found out that I was an inch shorter ,too

It is thought that you shrink as you get older....I know I'm not quite as tall as I was

Don't be a bit worried, nearly 30 years ago a relation of mine had a treble by-pass and a metal valve fitted at the same time. He will probably out live us all ;D, hail and hearty since then. Since then I have met many people who have had by-passes and by chance today I met a guy who I hadn't seen for a couple of years who had one last year. He said he hasn't felt as good in years. So the best of luck to you, will chat when you'r back, will be thinking of you

Thanks, AJ. I've heard much the same from other people, which is very encouraging. I didn't want to know what I weighed either, but the silly nurse still said it! One more week to go!

You're right. The trouble at the moment is that my concentration is like a gnat's! I flit from one (gentle) pursuit to another. I suppose at the back of my mind is next week! Another day ticked off on my chart. ;D

Another day ticked off on my chart. ;D Totally understandable, but you'll be fine, those guy's could do those op's blindfolded, one could almost say that those of us who haven't had it done yet are in the minority ;D Thinking of you

I like the stories about taking treats in, I didn't know they still encouraged that Geranium, make sure you get some nice nibbles brought in to you! I remember when I was dating my O.H. & he had to have a back operation I had to smuggle in bottles of beer & bacon butties for him! ;D

think of it as being a bloom flowering out of season. dormant through spring then when all danger of frost has passed you will flower. Your garden will be better next year as you will have planned /replanned as your petals unfurl lots of 'gentle' hugs and kisses xx
