No sign of any frogs or spawn here yet, I usually notice when next door's pond starts 'throbbing' with activity. Hope it stays warm enough for yours down there Grindle it's turning cold again this weekend.

Last year I was given a lot of span and the tadpoles never grew much even thought they had a big pond area. Then they dissapeared, no frogs, I was so disapointed . there are a lot of cats about do you think they may have something to do with the tadpoled demise ?

I expect you did get some frogs Ladybird, I see mine as tadpoles at the beginning, then they seem to disappear, but I quite often see small frogs later on in the year hiding in the plants. I do know my goldfish probably eat quite a few as well

I think cats will catch small frogs but I also saw the blackbird apparently eating spawn from the pond & I didn't see any very tiny frogs at all last year so think maybe the spawn in our pond didn't develop very well either.

Do you have dragonflies, diving beetles and newts? All of them or their larvae will eat tadpoles in large numbers. I have lots of frogs spawn and tadpoles but rarely see baby frogs, I'm sure some of yours survived. I do find that as my tadpoles grow they move to the deeper parts of the pond where they are more difficult to spot.

I did indeed see lots of beatles and other wildlife in there WF . definetely the tadpoles did not develope into frogs before they dissapeared. I had to move the pond last week to get the shed erected so emptied it, nothing in there. This morning, on the spur of the moment, I gave the pond away to the man who delivered my new cooker. He was having a we look about the garden as he used to be a landscape gardener and mentioned that his fish pond has holes. He was ever so pleased to get it.
