Not sure if this was a queen wasp or a hornet, it was a bigun though & was wandering around inside the kitchen window. I caught it in a glass & released it outside & it flew off O.K. The warm weather must have woken it up. Managed to take a photo & yes the windows do want cleaning! ;D  |

Looks like a wasp even though the wings have a brownish cast (like the hornet). The yellow on the thorax also says wasp to me.
Good shot and glad you released it too.

I wasn't sure what it was Steve as it had brownish wings & red/brown legs but the rest of it did look like a wapping big wasp! ;D

Great pics. Esther, I've never seen one of those, I'm sure someone else posted a photo of a similar one somewhere on the web asking what it was, if I could remember who & where I'd be able to tell them now! ;D
