Hello, Can anyone name the plant in the pictures ? Should I be deadheading it - started yesterday by cutting diagonally about 4 inches back from the dead flower just above where I could see new buds, stopped as not sure this is correct thing to do ? Didn't dead head it last year but can't remember quite so many dead flowers being left on it. Any advice on what I should do greatly appreciated. Regards, Lawrence

It's a Hydrangea, and it's best to cut them back to pairs of new strong buds after the frosts. The dead flowers help to protect the new growth, so no, they should be left on.

All mine look like this also (they look horrid this time of year) but yes its best to leave the heads on for a while yet .
