I mentioned this is in Esthers greenhouse thread but thought i'd put it here too.
Instead of using coolglass which is a pain to wash off, i bought greenhouse shade netting and strung it across the inside of the greenhouse on stretchy net curtain wire. It's great cos on sunny days you can pull the net across to shade the plants and on overcast days push it back to let more light in ;D

i have used netting too rosie. Also old net curtains but the best one is a product called 'Varishade' which goes clear on cloudy or rainy days and opaque when the sun shines so no need to wash it off. the old fashioned way was just brush on a mixture of lime in water but a little messy that.

I'd like to do something like that - I hate the coolglass stuff - it's dreadful when you have to get it off. I haven't come across 'Varishade', SP - I asked around the GCs last summer and all they could offer was coolgass. Did you get yours online?

At least I couldn't access their website. I only have some of their old catalogues as I haven't used them for a while however I found a place that stocks it but its expensive: www.gcraft.co.uk/purchase/197/varishade_2_300ml_bottle.html

This was from June 2008 on the other forum I thought I had better act when I saw a Fuchsia and an Aubergine with burnt leaves this week
Drilled a hole each end of the greenhouse frame, attached a wire, which was threaded through the holes in the top edge of the green garden netting, This coves half the top and and top side facing and getting most sunThe insideAnd more often than not over here when the sun isn't out, simply pull to one side like a curtain, no messy whitener to paint on or wipe off, shade on or off in seconds, the bottom of the netting has holes too so if need be it could be extended to double height to cover the whole sideSnap, just like mine but i do it inside the greenhouse, Great minds eh our Steve ;D
