Hello (Again !)
Last year planted some what I guess were annuals in pots in the garden, got some very nice flowers but now obviously need to be replaced, are there any flowers that flower year after year without the need to replace ?
Going into a back garden that faces south so gets a quite a bit of sun (although in Wales so not always the case !).
Any recommendations would be great, last year planted a Sedum oreganum (Oregon Stonecrop) that got from garden centre in one pot and this I believe will go again - is that a good one to go for for other pots ?
Many thanks,
Lawrence

If you want to plant something which flowers year after year, you need to be looking at perennials. The down side to perennials is they only flower for a short period, where as annuals will flower all summer.
There are thousands of perennials to chose from, they come in every colour, size and shape so it is down to your personal taste.
Sedums do well in pots, again, there are many different varieties to chose from.
You could try Fuchsias, they do well in pots and have a long flowering period, pick a hardy one or protect it during the winter.

Heucheras and Hostas do well in pots and will give you leaf colour through the summer months, especially if grouped with pots of grasses and/or small bamboo, and Eucomis (bulbs) have long lasting flowers. Agapanthus lillies and the short Alstromerias grow well in pots and will flower for several years before they need re-potting.

Many thanks was a bit confused why would go for annual over perennial but now understand they flower longer, will take a look at some hardy perennials at the garden centre tonight particularly the ones recommended above as for the pots would prefer not have to re-pot every year.
Kind regards,
Lawrence

There are also some annuals and biennials that self seed prolifically so that you get them coming up year after year. californian poppy comes to mind (I can't spell eschzoltzia ) Forget-me-not (Myosotis) Corydalis lutea (perennial) Cerinthe major purpurescens (honeywort) Quite a few others but my brain is on holiday atm.

Many thanks, bought a big selection (lot of pots hence why didn't want to re-pot every year) of everything recommended at garden centre and quite excited how will all turn out, thanks everyone.
