the Scottish painter

Scottish painter, Jock McGregor, was notoriously tight-fisted and to save money he put thinners in his paint to make it go further. One day he was painting a large church with his usual thinned-out paint when a lightning flash knocked him off the scaffolding and he fell to the ground with his watery paint. Fearing the wrath of the Almighty he cried out “Spare me, Lord, and tell me what I should do for your forgiveness?”



A mighty clap of thunder followed and a loud voice spoke solemnly, “Repaint, repaint ... and thin no more!”
