You would be stressed, i am the one who should be stressed, i am trying to win first prize at a show 300 miles away, for someone else. And are you stressed? You are an expert - so you give expert advice! ;D No, the only time i will be stressed during this season is transporting blooms to shows, hoping they will arrive at a show in one piece.

I'm glad I'm only growing Dahlias for my garden, Wf. I'd be too stressed about all this! You would be stressed, i am the one who should be stressed, i am trying to win first prize at a show 300 miles away, for someone else. I hope you are joking Tel. I am going to give it my best shot but it is a local show, fun is the operative word not stress. I'm loving it so far.

The next batch of young plants waiting to go down to the allotment quote] How many will you be planting, Lou? Thats a very good question Geranium ...Realistically I have 4 beds dedicated to dahlias....they will hold about 50 plants in total.....where the rest will go remains to be seen...they might end up snuggling up with the onions or the peas ;D

The varieties i will be using in championship classes this year are Kenora Challenger, Trelyn Kiwi and Marys Jomanda along with any of these Small Decoratives, Ruby, Winholme Diane, Brenda T, Ruskin Peach, Amber Festival and Gateshead Festival, unless of course there is a good vase in my other varieties on the day. ;D

I cut a load more bamboo so all my dahlias have three canes each. I remembered that earwigs live in the canes so I cut them all at a knuckle, no hollows for them to hide in. I sprinkled some slug pellets round them last night and was gob smacked at the number of dead slugs this morning.
