I have heard of these, but not seen one. Is this in your garden Esther? Does it eat the flowers or leaves?

Another question - sorry - do they only appear on Rosemary?

I've seen those in my garden. Do they nibble a bit or are they real pest?
I took a large rosemary down last year and have a few young plants coming on as a replacement.

There is always some pest on the plants. I am pleased you made us aware of this.

Thanks for the info Esther, thankfully it's not the beetle I had in the garden. The one I had was metallic with no stripes and much smaller.

Not seen this species yet in Northamptonshire myself but saw a lot last year on lavenders in private grounds in Chertsey in Surrey. Been told they are in Warwickshire by the county recorder for beetles for Warwickshire Steve Lane.

I haven't seen any Rosemary Beetles but we get Viburnum beetle which turns the leaves into lace doillies So far its only affected Vinburnum tinus.

Please keep those to yourself, Peony - I have several V. tinus shrubs, and I like them the way they are!
