I noticed the other night that our bat (pipistrelle I think) is back, there must be more than one but I've only seen one so far, it was circling round the trees in the garden at about 9.30pm. I've usually seen them before now but we've had so much wind & rain that they must have been hiding!

You are very fortunate to have bats Sue, we used to have pipistrelles here when we first moved in and I loved watching them wizzing around catching insects, but we never see them nowadays.

I only noticed them by chance several years ago & learnt to go out at a certain time each night to see them, they only seem to do a quick search of the garden & then fly off so it's easy to miss them, yours might still be around Peony.

Its a shame that bats are declining.
Still have Pipistrelles around me thankfully.

2 pipistrelles flying around last night around 9.30pm, one carried on flying around for quite a while & I tried to film it with my compact still camera. I've put it on YouTube but you can't really see it as it's reduced the quality a lot & it was quite dark. You can just make out something flashing backwards & forwards in the middle of the screen, it almost came in the back door a few times.
