Thanks - some people might not like it - I gather that black flowers aren't altogether popular!

Thanks - some people might not like it - I gather that black flowers aren't altogether popular! I am sort of one of those. On our last forum, we had a border in a garden that was being planted up completely with black plants. That did not appeal to me at all although many of our members thought this was a marvellous idea. If a dark or nearly black plant is planted beside others which would show it off, I know I would really love it. I think they should be set in their correct microclimate too, not just planted because they are black as in the garden I mentioned. That is a lovely hellebore Geranium.

Thank you Cherry. I certainly wouldn't want an all-black border here - it just wouldn't be 'in keeping' with the house/garden. I have planted a pot up with Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens' and a white Hellebore, but that's as far as I'd go.

Ophiopogon is something (lily) I would not bother with, as it is a relation of this which is used as lawn in northern Queensland. They don't grow grass like ours.

I certainly wouldn't want black grass, Cherry! I do use this plant around the garden, though - it makes a good contrast to others.

Thanks, Peony. It prefers a shady position, or the leaves scorch. I'm very fond of it, especially at this time of year.

That anemone is very nice, do you buy new each year, or do they come back for you? I have the Sambucus and love the new growth on it

I planted the first ones last year, because they were new and I thought they looked great on the packet, then more this year. Last year's are coming up but no flowers on them as yet.
