Yes, I deliberately poked some seeds into the gravel in my gravel garden, so the plants are safe there, but the ones in the gravel path are very vulnerable to visitors' feet, as I found out! I wish I could put a fence round them.

It hasn't been easy to work in the garden in the last few weeks, with all the rain and strong winds we've had. The grass has grown so fast, too - and the sit-on mower conked out the day before the second open day. We have visitors this Wednesday, then a group visit on 5th July. After that, it's 'MY' garden again. What's striking at the moment? Roses, Salvias and Geraniums. ;D In the back garden Agastache 'Tangerine Dreams' is at its best. The reliable Buphthalmum salicifolia is fully out, and will keep flowering for the whole summer if I dead-head it. The Delphiniums have done well this year - I have 'Black Knight', 'King Arthur' and 'Galahad'. The annuals I grow here are mostly self-seeders - tiny Calendula, Limnanthes douglasii, Tanacetum and Calendula 'Neon' in particular, but I do fill spaces with other annual plants. Tancetum (Feverfew) A Gazania to fill a gap. I have three Clematis in bloom here this month, but poor C. florida sieboldii didn't appreciate the weather, and went brown straight away. C. viticella 'Etoile Violette' is doing well, though. The other one in flower is C. vit. 'Venusta Violacea' I grow both the lilac and the white Catananches in the back garden, and they're just starting to bloom. I have to stake them, or they flop! I will not grow this Hypericum again, though - it self-seeds everywhere, and needs a lot of support. Its saving grace is its long flowering period, and when I cut it back, it produces another flush of flowers. The new hardy Gerbera garvineas are doing well. Their colour fits well in the back garden.

Very nice plants Geranium, and the border shot is gorgeous.I wish I could grow delphiniums, but I have never had success. If the slugs don't get them then the wet ground does

Thank you all for looking and saying such lovely things. Peony, I bought this one as a plant, but I've grown three different Agastaches (from seed) and they're in bud - I think A. aurianticus will be pretty similar. I really like Agastaches. I have several plants in the top border, all from seed, and they're coming into flower now. This is A. foeniculum - it's much loved by bees and butterflies. Do you grow this one?

I grew A. foeniculum from seed a few years ago Geranium and it has proved to be hardy and has seeded around a bit as well. I also grew A. Apricot Sprite' but this didn't get through the winter. WF got me some seeds from Plant World of A. 'Liquorice Blue' so I'm trying them this year

I've grown A. aurianticum, A. mexicana 'Sangria' and 'Liquorice Blue' as well this year - such a good choice in the Chiltern seeds catalogue! I hope they all flower soon. I like the scent, and apparently you can eat the leaves of the first two! ;D
