since i put the windmills by the pond i dont get any birds coming in the garden i wanted to frighten the heron away from the pond not other birds

That's a shame Joysie but people do put up little windmills & things like old cds on string to keep birds off their veggies etc. so I suppose they will frighten most away. Maybe if you put some bird feeders up well away from the pond the other birds might get used to it & come back?

But the birds never liked the feeders thats why i put the seed on the patio i bought a stand for all the feeders which only the pidgeons used

Joysie, I hope you have trees or a hedge for the birds. They won't feed out in the open as they would be too nervous. The bird feeder should then be placed close to the trees, large shrubs or hedge. You would be surprised at the amount of birds which would be attracted.

Yes cherry i do have a white clematis hanging on the fence also a passion flower over the shed which the stand is next to ive just noticed a blackbird trying to have a bath

I have two big shallow plastic green saucers i keep water in for the birds to bathe in they have gone brown at the sides i do brush them out each day also my bird bath goes brown as well i used patio cleaner before for the bird bath as its concrete then i put the water butt lid on it till it goes clean then rince it well can i use this to clean the saucers any advice welcomed

I would NOT use patio cleaner on the bird bath or the saucers.....traces will stay on for ages and probably poison the birds, also, concrete is porous and the chemicals will seep into it. I suggest you just use clean water and "elbow grease" to get rid of the deposits.
