I have a parcel waiting to be opened - from Crocus. Parker's always take ages to send out their bulbs at this time of year, so I'll have to wait patiently for them. Are they Narcissus or Tulips Geranium? I find just the opposite with Parkers and like their service. I bought Dierama species Blue Wands, which is lavender coloured actually. This is a gift and the recipient just loves it.

It's a large order, Cherry. I get their wholesale catalogue and order in bulk - some varieties by the 100. The lilies arrive later - I get 10 of each of those, as that's the minimum quantity.
I won't list them all, but there are several different early tulips, Narcissi, crocuses, Iris reticulata and two Amaryllis bulbs as well. I change the colour schemes in my containers every year, and then when the bulbs go over, I take them out and replant for the summer - I give the bulbs to my friends across the lane where they plant them in their orchard.
Buying in bulk saves a good deal of money...but the order takes a while to come.

Visited my sister's garden club yesterday evening as the guest speakers were Rosie and Rob Hardy of Hardy's Plants in Hampshire. Very good talk on 'Autumn Perennials' and they brought plants with them I was very restrained and only bought 2 plants - Anemone 'Wild Swan' and Luecanthemum 'Freak' (awful name) which only grows to 45 cm tall and has large flowers.

I made a decision yesterday - I have a shopping basket that belonged to my Mum, and I'm going to line it with polythene and buy outdoor Hyacinths to plant in it. It'll be in the porch, so it shouldn't get wet there. Now, hmmm...what colour shall I choose?

how about your mum's favourite colour What a lovely idea! She liked bright colours, so maybe I'll see what's available. Scented, too, as Cherry suggested. Good thinking - thank you both.
