Stipa gigantea and S. arundinacea. I love grasses (some anyway) and they look so good against other plants usually as the supporting cast but not Stipa gigantea. First rate garden plant and the seed heads just get better and better as they age to pale gold. Last so long too!
I know the other one is a bit of a seeder but its just so beautiful with its lovely arching habit and coppery, bronze/olive foliage and seed heads.

Another grass today, well three of another of my favourites, Helichtotrichon sempervirens or Golden Oats grass if you like.
Beautiful, tough, narrow blue-green leaves (bigger in all parts than Festuca glauca) and long arching spiklets of flower heads that turn golden.
This completes my dry, Mediterranean style hot sunny border, that includes Euphorbia characias, Artemisia schmiditiana, Euphorbia pithyusa and contrasting Astelia Red Devil and an orange/coppery Carex that has seeded so just popped these in to break up the greys and silvers.

...Agapanthus 'Northern Star' which has been in for a number of years and has loads of flower buds for a shot of colour too.
