Morrison's selling them for a fiver......couldn't resist. Mind you I'll probably lose it when winter comes Will stick a pic on when I can get round to it. They have both the red leaved and green.

In my Jungle Seeds catalogue from a few years back they were £16.00 upwards. Not really a plant for Aberdeenshire Rosie. I remember Pam ( esther) had one in her garden.

That's a cute plant sp, is it a dwarf type? What are you going to do when it starts growing a lot of suckers ;D it's going to look like a jungle in there if the weather stays nice.

Esther, it is planted in the ground. I had to cut the pot away from it as it was growing through the drainage holes.. i know this means wrapping it up for the winter and hoping for the best but at worst I've only lost a fiver. Jrae it is not a dwarf plant and if it is allowed to grow it should reach c 6' although somehow I doubt that happening. Jungle would be nice though Grindle. I lost a musa basjoo last year and that is hardier than this one so I am taking a gamble. Our climate here in Pembrokeshire is very similar to Cornwall so you never know.

sweetpea this might help my mom kind of does it like this when she overwinters her bananas (she kept them for 4 years then got tired of all the overwintering plants work). www.cooltropicalplants.com/Protecting-cold-hardy-bananas.htmlShe has my dad help out too because after that process you see in the webpage (when it's all wrapped up and covered with pails/pots at the top) they put up some sort of teepee around the whole thing then stuff it again with straw and cover it with fleece.

Thank you for that Jrae. Very comprehensive. I have everything except the straw. No doubt I will get everything ready and we will have a heatwave over winter

Sweetpea - we just sink the pot in the ground rather than plant it
