I know all of us will be enjoying Christmas, but thinking of the people in Australia who have lost their homes, and many lives, in the fires.

What does she know, she doesn't smoke. Anyway merry Christmas everyone.

I know all of us will be enjoying Christmas, but thinking of the people in Australia who have lost their homes, and many lives, in the fires. It's horrific watching it on the news, apart from the people losing their homes & possessions I feel so sorry for the animals they've had to leave behind & the wildlife. My half-sister lives on the coast between Sydney & Newcastle so should be safe from the fires but it must be so worrying.

Well we almost made it through January without mishap, but not quite Young lad opposite sold his car yesterday evening, said purchaser drove out of the drive at breakneck speed, hit the kerb and bounced straight into OH's parked car, looks like it might be a write off, what made it worse, car wasn't taxed so obviously no insurance, and the little ****** ran away, no idea where he comes from and it's all a bit vague, waiting on the police to come out tomorrow. Hey ho, here we go again with insurance

Oh my god that's awful grindle!!!! The only consolation is that nobody was hurt. Hasn't your neighbour got any contact details for the driver? What a start to the New Year for you both

Heck grindle, good job no one was in the car he hit, all sounds a bit fishy though doesn't it with the 'buyer' running off etc. Hope you can get to the bottom of it & get the insurance, was that the car which replaced the one which was crashed into just before Christmas 2018?

Well we think that as it wasn't taxed, he obviously had no insurance, so we'll see what the police can come up with today our insurance company now has all the details, and we've managed to get a courtesy car, just waiting on them collecting the car now to be assessed, looking at it in daylight, it might be saveable, we have to see. No SueA it was the other car seems like this time of year is a no no for us and cars. It could have been worse, kids regularly play in the road, but thank goodness it was not nice weather, so there was no one about. I feel sorry for the young lad that sold the car, he felt really bad about it, but it was in no way his fault.

... No SueA it was the other car seems like this time of year is a no no for us and cars. I would say you'd better not go out in the car around Christmas & New Year but it's not even safe outside your own house, that must have been a real shock.

too true, well the long and short of it is that the police came, saw, and there's not much they can do, weren't happy about the story that had been given by the neighbour, thought it was all a bit fishy, no tax, no insurance, no idea who'd bought it from them, so it's now down to our insurers

What a thing to happen grindle I hope you can get some insurance to cover the damage to your car. It all seems a bit suspicious about the buyer of the other car. I hope they can catch him.
Beryl got taken to hospital yesterday, she had a stroke at about mid day. She hasn't been well for a few months and I think it was building up to this, although there was no way of telling at the time. I haven't slept all night, don't know how she is now. I'll be going to see her later on. Ambulance people and staff in the hospital are excellent. The chap who answered my call said he didn't know how long the ambulance would take because of the situation with them being held up etc, but he stayed on the phone with me until it arrived. That was about 3-quarters of an hour. He said if he had to deal with another call he'd let me know and come back to me after the call had ended. I suppose she is "in the best place" as they say but it is a worry all the same.
