tell i had a look at the dahlia trials today birkinshaw pudsey looked realy well I hope you are right Rob, the one plant I have in the garden is awful, I just hope because it was a tuber, I had finished taking cuttings from, it was exhausted. The plants on the allotment look more robust and some of the buds are showing colour now, so I have my fingers crossed the blooms show the same form as last year. They should be enough blooms then for Harrogate. I was not going to cover them, but I went to the allotment today and rigged up some plastic covers over them. so now I will have to wait and see.

tell i had a look at the dahlia trials today birkinshaw pudsey looked realy well I went to have a look at the trials today, To say I was disappointed with Pudsey is an understatement. The blooms looked too small and the form is not like last years blooms. Either it as gone backwards or the only other thing I can think off is last year was a cool summer, this year we have had some high temperatures this could have effected the size and form of the blooms. all I can do is see what the blooms are like on the allotment when they flower in a couple of weeks.

Tel, what happened to Terrycotta? I've been catching up on previous thread when it went in the trials. Did you show it?

Tel, what happened to Terrycotta? I've been catching up on previous thread when it went in the trials. Did you show it? I never showed it after the trials Moonlight. the petal count was not high enough for a modern Miniature Dec, so I tried to grow it as a Small Dec, just did not get up too a decent small size. I do still have it though, there is about half dozen planted with other decs for seeds on the allotment.

Been looking at the records of the NDS trials since it began. I have noticed not one Collarette has won a medal at these trials. Next year I am going to send Garden Friends there. Garden Friends in my opinion looks a better dahlia this year in its second season. Will be a bed filler if nothing else.

My plant is a beauty and stops people in their tracks. Looking at Hootenanny and Teesbrooke Redeye, I think these could be the parents of Garden Friends. The Colour maybe from Hootenanny and the collar from Teesbrooke Redeye.
