Geranium, I would enlarge a couple of those photos and put them in plastic folders to sit on an easel or whatever on the open day.

So pleased/relieved you've had no more flooding Geranium. All that dampness must be horrid for you, and you don't need me to tell you to take care of your health.. xx

Just seen this, That is awful for you Geranium. Will you have to have the plaster and flooring replaced. Any possibility of a flood defence for the future, the way the weather seems to be happening these days

Hope you've had no more flooding Geranium, terrible news & pictures of what has happened down your way & Devon etc., flooding in the Lakes not far from where we went last week, must be very worrying for anyone on a flood plain.

Geranium, I would enlarge a couple of those photos and put them in plastic folders to sit on an easel or whatever on the open day. That's an interesting idea, Cherry! The next weather system will arrive later today, but the even worse one is due on Monday. The paper said this period is a 'historic storm event'. Tel, we're not sure about the flooring at the moment. It's a waiting game until the weather systems have moved away. My husband took up the damaged part of the wooden floor yesterday - to stop it floating away, I suppose!

An update on last night. We could see the water rising all evening, so we moved anything vulnerable again. Henry's bed is raised on a makeshift platform. I woke at 1.30 and I could see that the house was surrounded again, so I crept downstairs. The water was just getting into the Garden Room. I didn't think I'd go back to sleep, especially as the wind was howling round! Anyway, I did, but I woke again at 5.45 and I've been down again. The water outside has receded, and the indoor flooding isn't as bad as last time thank goodness. The carpets are soggier and the Garden Room floor will need yet another clean-up , but the water didn't get into the sitting room this time. I'd guess that the kitchen has escaped, too, as Henry hasn't made a sound. I think he would have if the water was in there. More mopping up when it gets light, and I won't attempt to go to church this morning. The next weather system is on its way - to arrive here some time tonight or early tomorrow.

You don't have to go to church Geranium. The vicar said prayers for the victims of floods and I threw one in for good measure. The floods were the talk of the congregation afterwards.

I don't think I would have slept at all Geranium if I was in your situation but it's good that at least you managed to get some rest, hope that's the worst of it over for you now.

just read this geranium, so sorry to hear and see the troubles you are having. That was the day I had to drive 50 miles to hospital at Llanelli just over the water from you. I have known worse journeys but not many and I experienced that weather first hand. I don't like using platitudes but the main thing is that you are all safe unlike some of the storm/flood victms. Wishing you well. SP

Thank you, Sp, and you're right. Many other people have suffered too- some much worse! I watched the news last night. We're safe and hopefully we can start to clear up and get dried out today. The latest weather system passed to the west of us, so we only had moderate amounts of rain, and I think there are mere pools of water downstairs today - easily mopped up. The effects of the flooding are becoming evident now. The paint on the walls where the water has soaked up is blistering. There will be a lot of 'making good' to be done once it's all dried out. My husband says he'll start making phone calls today! People in the community have offered help, and we'll accept it gratefully.
