It is interesting although something I hope none of us have to go through. You read about people having to leave their homes for months & wonder why it takes so long but reading about your home Geranium you realise how just a few days of water can seep into & ruin everything. Hope you manage to get some new flood defences sorted out soon.

That rather depends on how soon we can get our neighbours to talk with us on what to do. Being Christmas so soon, I doubt if anything will be decided in the near future. Just to make you all smile, there's the equivalent of a howling gale downstairs with 7 industrial fans all going full blast - one of them is directed into the downstairs loo, and it blew the toilet roll off the holder - in a long 'stream' of paper, ending up down the loo. ;D It was almost new, too! Today is carpet removal day. It will be sad to see it go - we're both fond of it. I just hope the damage underneath is minimal.

Maybe that would have been a good idea - to make some money! I could have 'posed' him with it all over him, I suppose. ;D The floor in the hall is not damaged. I'm sure the insurance Company will be pleased.

It could have been really bad, so we're grateful for that. The buckets collecting water out of the dehumidifiers are still filling up every day, though! I suppose that even if we'd dried out, nobody would be working over the Christmas period, so we'll wait and see what happens in the new year. I'm going a bit stir crazy stuck in a small room - I really must try to get out of the house more.

Staying with our daughter, Tel. Thank goodness for family, eh? Our son has also offered 'respite' if we need it, but it's a long way - 5 hours at least.

Hiya - we're drying out nicely, thanks, but we have our fingers and toes crossed for today and tomorrow, as it's pouring with rain and there's a flood warning for here ( yet again!). We're still hoping to be able to travel to our daughter's today, but it will be a job to find an un-flooded route through the lanes to the main road.

Looking at the news giving out all these flood warnings you will need a 4 x 4 to get through or better still a DUKW.
It really has been a dreadful time for so many people and especially on top of Christmas seems to make it worse. let's hope for better in 2013

Thanks - we got here safely. There was only one closed (flooded) road with a diversion. It's so civilised having carpets and no noisy fans! Our neighbour has the key and will phone tomorrow to reassure me about the house.
