I thought I would start a new thread where I can share some photos of the birdlife and wildlife I'm lucky enough to see in and around my property here in my north-eastern corner of Australia. Our property is surrounded by bushland so I'm privileged to be able to see lots of birds and animals just living out their daily lives 'au natural'. I'll start with a few of the birds I've been seeing in the trees and swooping across the sky around here over the last week. male Figbird Pale-headed Rosella Forest Kingfisher Red-tailed Black Cockatoo

They're wonderful Bernie, I've never seen or heard of the Figbird before but I suppose it's because I only own books on European birds in general. The Rosella looks a lot like a budgerigar doesn't it, probably from the same family?

This is a great thread Bernie and your photography is excellent. Thanks Cherry. It's often hard to get really great shots of the birds around here. They're either too quick, or too high up!

If you ever find yourself over this way, you'll be sure to see one. I guess the Pale-headed Rosella and Budgerigars to look a little similar. I think they're both from the Parrot family aren't they? Not entirely sure.
