Ive had enough, just had a chap round to measure up for new radiators boiler etc. I had to leave OH to sort him out and ran outside to hug a pig with tears running down my face . We've had them banging and crashing outside for the past month or more doing external work, they've broken the bench, ripped my terracotta thermometer off the wall and broken it, wrecked the flower beds, damaged the little raised bed at the side of the house. Muck etc is chucked all over as is there waste from dinner Costa coffee cups crisp packets etc (They keep putting these in the green bin too!) They just don't seam to care about our possessions . And now they are set to start in the house Ive had enough. So much for privacy and personal space. We had stopped smoking for 2 months, but soon started again. Its too much stress. I'm starting to think this was a bad idea

Write down all the things they've damaged Floydie & give the 'boss' a list & say you want the costs knocking off the bill! I hate having builders in, we'll be having a new boiler & fire next year & I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Were having all new pipe work, radiators in too (as we have solid fuel atm), Electric fire new surround etc but the old back boiler needs to come out too. The house will end up a mess just in time for Christmas. I'm just so stressed with it all.

Floydie, you must be more assertive. You are in charge and they are lucky to have jobs in the present work climate. Be more assertive. They certainly have bad manners. However, you will cope with a mess at Christmas if the heating is working nicely. You are a worker and you can get through this. It is good to have a moan but you must look forward. Also, read what Sue said. Good advice there.
Try to stop the ciggies again. Two months without was well done.

Try to 'think positive' Floydie - I know all too well how difficult it is being invaded. Look ahead at what your new-look home will be like!

I may be wrong but, if i remember rightly from previous postings it is a local authority property. With all the modernising of your house, a decent authority would have temporary re housed you while major work was been carried out. They should treat people and their property with the same respect and courtesy. Has Sue says write down all your complaints and send it to the appropriate department saying you expect them to put right any damage they have caused to anything including your garden, when the work is completed.

I totally agree with Tel and Sue Emma, the way they are working is not acceptable, esp as they are breaking youir possessions. Make a note of everything that has been damaged and send it to the appropriate person.
