Trying to get in the festive mood we went to the local park last night where they were having a 'winter wonderland' event. It was very wet underfoot but not raining & although it was only a small affair it wasn't bad as it was free & the children there seemed to enjoy it. There was an 'elf' cycling like a mad man on a sleigh taking kids for a ride along the main path, very long queue as you only had to donate a small amount in a bucket to the Rotary club I think. There were some stalls with mince pies, teas & for some reason a knitted nativity (didn't Esther make one of those?), a very good Santa, the local brass band & weirdly a snow scene with giant toadstools in it? Here's some photos, don't faint with the excitement of it all! ;D The strange toadstools! The knitted nativity etc. The tent for Santa, the band, stalls etc. The cycling elf The local church lit up on the way home.

Some of your photos are quite good Sue. They capture the event very well and it is good having it for nothing. Your photo of the church is really great.

The children there did all seem to enjoy it, it was a bit muddy & soggy, don't think the park had dried out since the bonfire & fireworks in November! ;D

He pedalled like the clappers, I blurred the faces of the children in the sleigh afterwards but the blurry pic. of the sleigh is because he was going so fast, think 'elf & safety' would have had him for not having seatbelts on the kids! ;D
