Filled the seed trays with potting compost and placed on the heated bench. Heated propagator also brought into service, will clean up the tubers at the weekend, and bed them into the tray's and a few in the propagator.

I have seen some great photos of Barbarry Sultan, Robh, and I have Kenora Macop B. You will enjoy growing that one.

That's a pity. Barbarry Dahlias usually have good form.

Nice! I'll have to look out for Oreti Classic. I hadn't seen it before, but the Oreti Dahlias are bred in New Zealand, so I may see it in the shows this year.

I had a look at Duncan Edwards at the Leeds trials, a very dark red almost black. I am not really sure if it is a show variety, but i could only view one bloom of it.

Tel, I found some photos of Duncan Edwards online. They must have been taken with cameras a bit like mine, because they looked more bright than dark. Nice, though. Candy, that is a lovely selection! One of our growers shows some gorgeous blooms of Bryn Terfel. It was bred by Kevin Sherlock, the same man who breeds the Kea Dahlias. Kea Sally is one to look out for when it becomes available to the public. Huge and red. Stem like a piece of bamboo, too. I expect it will make it to the Northern Hemisphere, as there are only a few red giants about. Kea Sally.

I found this 'Pastel Florart' with a white petal today: It's a little reminder of Te Whiti, New Zealand's most famous pacifist, wearing its white plume.

We saw Duncan Edwards at Harrogate and Rob really wants it as he loves the dark factors

I really should ban myself from looking up dahlia varieties I thought oh Hillcrest Candy, I recognise that name... do a quick search, click the link and now I see a gallery of a dahlia varieties for sale... It's like being in a sweet shop and I really should not go visit one of those either!
