Sad, but to be expected these days. I won't even put any of my plants on my father in laws allotment. My wife had her bee hives kicked over....... in a vicarage. We know who did it, one of them admitted it. But it seems that nowadays it needs to be on video for any prosecution to take place i.e. (lack of evidence) t The perpetrators are from a school that has nearly 1 teacher to each pupil, and must cost hundreds of thousands a year, for about 30 special needs kids (dead legs). Total waste of money!!!!

Getting slightly worried about oakwood goldcrest still no sign of life after 7 weeks Now mine have loads of shoots on them. Some of the other varieties are a bit erratic to say the least. Shoots are appearing from everywhere apart from the crown, so taking cuttings is going to be a nightmare on a few varieties ( BrendaT, Senzoe and Winholme ) As for ruskin Bride, I have 2 tubers and the shoots are coming up through the stem of the tuber only on them

Wot about the BLUE seedlings? ?....eh Tel....thought blue was a "no no" for dahlias? ?...muddy mauve perhaps.... That was a joke Lou, you know and i know, just like the roses there is no genuine blue. There again the first person to breed one will make a few bob. ;D

There's a genetically modified blue one in Japan. It still looks a bit purplish, but I prefer my blue on Delphiniums anyway.

Today my dahlia season started taking the first 25 cuttings, the first ones are arabian night, Deveril, Gallery Riviera, Hamari pink and Nathalie G. These are just the first ones of many to come, in totall about 60 varieties to take cuttings from. Would like to have 8 plants of each from them to choose from. I am using p7 plant trays for 40 cuttings which fit perfect in a crate i have, so it is not to difficult to move them around for now. But wil need my space in the greenhouse at home, 12 crates with cuttings, 4 with seedlings and then my greenpeas and other annuals..... What am i doing this year..... ;D ;D ;D

I ordered 7 more dahlia varieties today.
3, Barbarry Balloon 3, Blyton Softer Gleam 3, Barbarry Parade 3, Barbarry Sunbeam 3, Blyton Romance 3, Marston George 3, Westerton Folly.
Harrogate this year, the only entry i intend to make at the moment is Birkenshaw Pudsey in the seedling class. I have decided not to replace my covers for the dahlia's. So i am going to spend more time on the breeding side of things, the weather would have to be brilliant to show anything else.
