Had a delivery today, its a Heleborus orientalis 'Pink Spotted', the size of the box was a little deceptive.
Actually is a lot smaller than it looks in the photo.

This is what it will look like when it grows up. (I am not going to name specific company but I hope that my dahlia tubers are a lot better.).
There was also a note advising "that due to the recent weather conditions these plants may be slightly smaller than stated but they are in good condition and have just started to grow. Therefore we suggest leaving them in their original pots for an additional week, water regularly to enable the roots to fully establish. After this time, plant out in well prepared soil."
On the plus side I think that it is looking better already.
So I expect they are right and considering I don't know where to put it yet, it is not a problem. Only put it on here yesterday because it was something that HH chose and their 'plant of the week'. He was the one that opened it and he was disappointed at the size of it. Like I said I am not going to say where from even experts can be affected by circumstances beyond their control. Still have not forgotten that dahlia supplier that has lost over half their stock. Makes me feel sad just thinking about it.
Well 'Little Miss Pink Spotted' has been passed over to me now and it is my mission not to kill her. Positive thoughts and tiny steps in the right direction.

Here's some more positive thoughts: Sammy Sparkle update.
This Sammy when I bought him..... Here is Sammy now Quite a lot of the lower leaves have dropped so Sammy is less rounded but I am very happy that Sammy's true colour are showing through. Every now and again I gently rub his with a soft pipe cleaner but I'm not scrubbing him and leaving all his knooks and crannies alone, otherwise I'll be poking the glitter in further.

Oh yes that's right blame me ;D Nice to see sammy is going the way I predicted Will do More good news Geranium 'Little Miss Pink Spotted' is doing well to.
We don't have electricity down the garden so I was going to nip down to check on the babies in the greenhouse but the girls saw me grab the lamp and wanted to come to. Had to wait 5 minutes while they looked for their wellies and then 5 more while they fussed around putting them on. Very strange felt like we were sneaking down on the plants under the cloak of darkness. We peered at the plants with the lamp, watered them and went back up with Fairy Pink Wellies telling me that I should put my daffodils in the greenhouse under the shelf, so that mine could grow to. Humpf that was my idea, great minds (and green fingers?) think alike.
And the reason why were down there so late, you'd never guess in a million years.
She had a recording studio singing party to go to for a 7 year old friend. I jest not. HH wants one for his birthday (January). A friend asked if HH & I were going to record a duet. erm if we were, wouldn't have a clue what to sing. HH wants to try and talk Mum & Dad into having a recording singing party for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. erm. No, that would never happen. Not in a million trillion years!

I bought a RHS diary from the bookpeople that come to work for £2. I started going through my seed packets and for each packet I am writing the name and sowing dates, each packet = 1 day entry. Using it as a convenient space rather than that is the day that the seeds are going to be planted. In theory when I sow I will write the date sown on that plants entry. I'll explain better another time. It is very theraputic. Feels good to get organised and I feel like I can finally get going on my sowing.
Am more than a tad distracted tho. Mr. Fothergill's have a free P&P offer this weekend and I keep looking at the strawberry plants... Strawberry Cambridge Favourite 12 runners £3.95
Better stop now ought head off for bed.

I've never come across a recording party before - does everyone go home with a CD of themselves? Could be embarrassing!

I've never come across a recording party before - does everyone go home with a CD of themselves? Could be embarrassing! oh yes each child came out with a cake, cd of the band and each child wanted to hear their cd all the way home and each child sang along at the top of their voices and each family had a headache by the end of it. very funny.

Been down to the greenhouse. Sweetpeas still look like sticks . Leaky gutter:( is the reason why my daffodils are looking constantly saturated. Oh well. Swings and roundabouts. We moved them near to the house to protect them a bit with the house but it has back fired. Random daffodils around the garden are growing but they don't feel like mine because they are not planted by me this year.
Tried to carry one of the smaller tubs of daffodils but just too heavy to stagger down the garden with, so it is sitting on the girls climbing frame. Didn't want HH to carry any as I don't want him to end up with a bad back. It would be bad enough if I do but they are my plants I feel if that if either of us should end up with a bad back it ought to be me. That said it is an 'avoidable accident' hence I've stopped.
On the :)plus side Grandad bought Fairy Pink Wellies a mini greenhouse of her own with loads in it. Lots of instructions to read and pipettes, seeds and thermometer. Looking forward to her showing Grandad her plants growing.

I've been fed up today, lots to do but HH was desperate to crack on around the side of the greenhouse but it has been raining on and off all day. Got loads I can be cracking on with in the greenhouse but if I don't work on the lounge than that will never get finished and I need to have a proper clear out and finish it before we can start the decorating.
Just tucking into my Sunday dinner which HH cooked and he remarks that there is snow on the car roof. So I went down to the greenhouse with my lamp, hung it in the corner. Did an impression of the incredible hulk and picked up the daffodils that had been left stranded half way down the garden on the girls climbing frame. Marched down to the greenhouse. Put my poor snow covered pot on the ground of the greenhouse and marched back up to the house, unwrapped fleece to go over the other daffodils but I have nnot got my little helper, (she has more sense and is carrying on eating her dinner) without her it is harder to unroll the fleece and the wind blows it around and I struggle with the scissors and stomp in.
HH talked about the snow in the US and seeing the clip on the internet of snow covering 6+ foot door frame. I realise that I am getting off lightly. It could be so much worse.
