You are a busy girl ...you could have saved yourself a job...daffs are as tough as old boots and won't need shelter in the greenhouse.... Bought the bulbs from Van W in November 2011 and they did not get planted. They were left in the shed and were more than a tad manky when Fairy Pink Wellies and I planted them. So they were all bulbs planted late (I think it was December ) so they have not had a very good start in life. HH noticed the problem with our guttering at the weekend which is the reason why they never dried out, every time there was a slight shower they were given the equivalent of a power shower.
Fairy Pink Wellies planted the 3 extremely manky looking bulbs that we found last week and hers went into the holeless pot, so they have had dry compost and hers are growing. Which is great for her and I am really pleased and she is excited. She was so good when we were planting the other ones. Spent ages going through which ones looked rotten and squishy and which looked like they had a tiny bit of green in a shoot. That's why I gave her the other ones. (Pirate Yellow Wellies didn't like being outside in the cold, she stayed inside and sat watching on the settee). I had to send Fairy Pink Wellies in to wash her hands to warm them up, they were so cold. Bless her.
I just want some of mine to grow to, I am concerned that they will all rot. I think part of it is I feel guilty that a, I didn't plant them the year that I got them in b, they were not cheap, it is a waste of money I don't get any to grow.

The girls have chosen which variety of strawberry to grow. They both picked the same one. They are good girls even if they are taking ages to get changed out of their school clothes so that we can go down to the greenhouse. Daddy will be home before they are ready.

We made it just. Here are my sweet pea sticks and Little Miss Spotty growing nicely.
Fairy Pink Wellies is recording a documentary about what is growing in the greenhouse whilst holding the lamp.
Whilst Pirate Yellow Wellies is busy playing a game.
Having decided to take photos Pirate Yellow Wellies is told by her sister that her memory card is full so she can't take pictures anyway

I was able to tell Dad my good news about his dahlia order, we had not received an email acknowledging our order so I emailed them direct and yes, March 4th Alpin Bill, April Dawn, Citation, Red Balloon, Cornel & Jessie G will all begin their journey here. Clearview David, Clearview Debby, Clearview Misty, Clearview Sundance, Clearview Orca, Clearview Louise, Clearview Irene & Clearview Tammy, together with my Clearview Jenny and Clearview Arlene begin their journey the same day.
My Dad is getting very excited, his Christmas day is coming. He got dahlias tubers ordered for his Christmas present which is what he was hoping for and we knew exactly what he wanted to get. I can't wait either but I have loads to do before then.
