Speaking of HH.........
While we were at the H.shop buying potatoes I remembered to get pots. I ended up with only 10 on the grounds that I could buy more next time and I have got to go back for my garlic.
I was asked what I was going to use them for 'sweetpeas' I squeaked. He didn't roll his eyes but did say that I could use cheaper smaller pots. (Nope, sticking with my ones because I know an expert or 2 here)
Get home thinking about it, then the penny drops. The compost is outside in the snow. There is not a lot of it but probably not the best conditions to plant my sweetpea babies. Dad said to me when we brought the compost home on Thursday to put it in the shed before I use it at the moment. Which I promptly forgot. So the compost that I had bought to pop up my bulbs and sweetpeas is too frozen to use.
Talking to HH about it and he said, well you could always bring it here (inside the lounge) and put it in my purple wheelbarrow. I didn't think he was serious but I was wrong. He fixed the bolts and tightened the screws while I took out the things that had some how accumilated in the purple wheelbarrow. Then I put on my (purple) clogs, scraped the snow off of the compost bag and carried it the few steps toward the wheelbarrow.
Maybe tonight I was not the only one who a little bit crazy (either that or HH read my mind )

Your husband is a very understanding man - mine thinks that gardening belongs outside. I get into trouble for bringing plants into the Garden Room, let alone compost in the lounge - a definite no-no there.

HH has also said that once I plant my sweetpeas I can put them in our dining room because it is the sunniest room of our house.

I thought that I read somewhere about starting them off in airing cupboard. Getting then going and then putting them out side in cold frame.

I'm going crazy can't see anything about an airing cupboard. Better to find out now than to kill the sweetpea babies.

I think that there is the usual confusion between SOWING and PLANTING here. SOW the seeds in the warm conditions and as soon as through get them outdoors into the cold frame. later in the spring PLANT the seedlings out where they are to flower. Strictly speaking you TRANSplant the seedlings but you ALWAYS SOW seeds
