for once in my gardening life, im at a loss. my dads house he had built 50 years ago, it never flooded till last year, been flooded 5 times now, thank god, never in the house, but up to my knees in the garden. will do the garden again this summer and prey no floods, last year i lost the will to live watching every thing die, my greenhouses where the first to die, then my veg, then the flowers in borders, we just kept moving the tubs and to higher ground and did manage a good show, fingers crossed a better spring and summer

Thats very sad Jean, a few forum members have had their gardens flooded, including myself but only a few inches. It's heart breaking to see everything get damaged but gardens are amazingly resiliant and it will bounce back. Silt left behind can be very fertile but also full of weed seeds Come spring i bet your amazed at what will still come up through the claggy soil. Good luck with your garden, i i hope everyone will have a better gardening year

Hope you have a better year in 2013 Jean, maybe you could try some raised beds to provide a bit of drainage, it must be very sad to keep losing plants.

It is sad when you lose plants like this through no fault of your own. Fingers crossed it will be another 50 years before your garden floods again Jean.

I really feel for you - I was flooded twice - indoors as well as the garden, and I'm very worried about my plants.
