Downham Royal. Not grown for show*, in a big pot with no stops, just wanted dahlias that made me smile when I came home.
*nb it's brothers and sisters at the back might be, if any are good enough show time...

Two days ago one of the main branches of my kenora valentine wilted.I had a good look and found the base where it joins the main "trunk" just above ground level to be rotten.I removed the branch and cleared the leaves that were shading this part of the stem to allow sunlight in to dry this area.I am also taking care to not get it wet. Am I doing the right thing? Have any of the experienced growers out there ever had this happen?

Another stem has collapsed.Maybe I'll lose the whole plant. What should I do? Can it be saved?

I would dig the plant out and get rid of it, matt. Put it out for refuse collection, don't risk composting it. I would also give the plants and soil a good drench of a fungicide like Fungus Clear Ultra.
I had something similar on 'Hillcrest Candy' last term and if not stopped it will spread to other plants, as mine did last year until I noticed it and got rid of the infected plants.

Dahlias are shooting up now. Only problem is that now they are getting so tall they need another tie but the bottles that I used as cane protectors are getting in the way of the tieing.

Spent cartridge cases make excellent protectors on canes. If you have a clay shoot nearby, they should be able to supply all you need. (And for free)

I've noticed wasps on some of my dahlias today and I've got black fly on one of my plants. but the dahlias themselves look lovely.

Something's been eating my Weston Spanish Dancer's leaves. Any suggestions?

My Weston Pirate looks (to me) better than My 1st Weston Spanish Dancer and has a damaged petal which is a pity and I don't think that the centre is as neat opening as my Pirate did.
My Jomanda (to me)looks ok, as does my Mary's Jomanda - early days.
It is nice to start to see them flower for the 1st time. A memory or a photo can't compare with the real thing.
