No idea big idea still.... just planning to seed fenugreek seeds. I grew them last year phiferinda , bit disappointing with the results , not enough germinated to add to a curry I may try again though .) I`m a bit disheartened this year thinking of growing any veg because last years were so disappointing . I tried growing the mommoth onions from seed but they very slow and small any tips would be welcome. The spring onions were not ready untill August, perhaps its the lack of soil nutriemnts ? my peas did very well the carrots didn`t germinate well and even the good amount of onions grown from sets rotted in the shed this year I see the parsnips are growing well though, the couple I pulled are still small so i left the rest to fatten up . anyone recommend a good time to harvest them ? I`d like to have a go at cauliflower , cabbage , beetroot, carrots , lettuce and spring onions, onions.

And tomatoes of course . we had an everending supply of them last year in the GH, most rather small and some were very tasty, but once again hubby replanted them and saw no need to keep all the lables I`d like to grow a couple of larger acity ones this year, any recomendations ?

Hi ladybird, I don't think parsnips will fatten up now until they start to re-grow, by which time the core goes woody and there is less useable parsnip. I prefer the small ones anyway as to my taste buds they are naturally 'sweeter'.
Mammoth onions may have suffered in the dull, cold spring, and spring onions as well. Though I have never found spring onions to be particularly quick growing. I tend to use shallots, two or three planted every week and pulled when the foliage is about six to eight inches high, and use these as spring onions instead.
Some onions from sets keep better than others and I have found the variety 'Centurion' does best on my wet Welsh allotment.
Every season will have crops that do well and those that do not and I seem to have something do well one year and fail completely the next, despite not doing anything differently.

I am trying out three grafted tomatoes. They grow two stems of different sorts on one root. I have no idea what they will be like. I have ordered one mini cucumber grafted plant. I had two cucumbers last year. I will still need to sow my usual tomato seeds to have enough plants for the greenhouse. I like a Shirley and Gardener's Delight.

Tomatoes, cucumbers and various peppers in the greenhouse. The allotment a few sprouts, no other veg up to now, depends how much room is left once the dahlia plants and dahlia seedlings are planted.
