As you all know I love seeds and keep an A-Z in a file every year so I can keep track how they germinate etc. I also have a diary section that I spend a lot of time on , nice to read over in the winter. The file has developed over the years and now includes sections on, veg rotation , propagation, design, finance, ideas ,fruit and shrubs and this year I`m adding a to do Jan - Dec section so I can remember things like when to take those cuttings and plant the garlic. I use the file so much that I thought I`d make a nice cover for it and here it is with a closing and carry handles. It has a little pencil case in the front for small pencils rubber and sharpener , I`m looking for a slim pair of red reading glasses to fill the empty slot and the little pouch at the top has an elasticated top where I can slip in a herb pouch for fragrance (there is some lavender in it at the moment smells lovely . On the inside there is a place for plant labels and permanent markers and a pouch for tiny sticky labels and coloured dots that I use with my sowing system ( don`t ask it`s too complicated to explain, people go to sleep on me when I try ;D ) Anyway I`m rather pleased with the result , just thought I`d share it with you all.

Wow! I wish I was like that. All I've managed to do is split seeds into a veg tin and a flower tin. (mainly because I can't fit them all into one)

It`s nice that you all like it . It will be handy having every thing for sowing in one place. I started keeping a record because I "lost" so many, didn`t even know if they germinated or not. now I have a system ( I know you really want to know this ;D) I like to keep a record of the company, the number of seeds in the packet , if it has been previously opened, and the expiry date. I only sow in quarter or half green seed trays and number each one on a tiny white sticker. sometimes I will sow several different seeds in the same tray ( but never have two varieties of the same flower beside each other ). I have two little cardboard templates to represent the trays, and when I sow several trays I will record them in my diary by drawing around the shape, in green, and writing in the "seed tray" the names of of the seed and the number of the tray above it. I record the date each seed is sown in the A-Z seed file date When I prick the seedling out , only into black seed trays, I make a note of how many of each there are in the diary, beside the little drawn seed tray and put a coloured dot on the black tray to let me know I have recorded this tray. later I will record the total numbers of each in the comments of the A-Z seed file. ARE YOU STILL AWAKE ;D ;D ;D I leave the green trays for quite a while and usually get more germination's, which I treat in the same way. When I do eventually empty the seed tray I draw a red line around the green outline in the diary .

As long as it works for you and you are happy with it, that is the main thing.
