Just got back home from seeing Les Miserables at the cinema and all I can say is 'WOW' what a film. I had already seen the stage production in London some years back and I'm not sure which was the better. The cast was brilliant, the songs memorable and the whole production excellent. If you haven't already done so book your tickets and take a box of tissues The best value for £4.80 I've had in years. I believe the cinema prices in the greater London area are around £12.00 though.

That is interesting SP. I saw the stage production and feel wary about seeing the film because there is no proper singing in it and I really like the songs.

Last week Maureen went to see it with a friend and they absolutely loved it and she also had seen the stage production. I and one of the boys and her friend's husband were then next to go so we went to the matinee performance this afternoon and we all thought it was excellent.

We haven't been to the pictures for years! Being so far from a cinema is the main reason. Thanks for telling us about 'Les Mis'. I have no idea if the cinema in Bridgwater has it on. Our local paper is for West Somerset, not for Bridgy. There aren't any cinemas within reach in our area.

Did have the video of the stage production but long gone now. With some films the tv version just doesn't do justice to being in a cinema with all the big screen and sound effects. We travelled 10 miles through the snow to our cinema, not far I know but bristol isn't a million miles from you geranium is it? As I recall Plymouth and Exeter both have good cinemas grindle!

It's a good hour's drive up to Bristol. Then you have to park! They charge astronomic fees up there - OH had to pay £10 when he visited me in hospital - that was for 2 hours' parking.

It looks better than I expected SP. I am a fan of Russell Crowe. naturallemont Cherie cherry he says he is quite a fan of yours too ;D I remember my reaction when I went to the cinema in Singapore to see Sound of Music and realised it was a musical. I thought 'Yeuch' but it was a great film. Preconceptions can put people off. I am waiting to see what my daughter's reaction will be as she has repeatedly said it's not her bag. Personally I cannot see what there is to dislike as there is everything that makes for a great film in it. Also what made it for me was the fact that I could understand every word unlike the mumblings and incoherent ramblings you get nowadays on the telly. We often have to put the subtitles on to understand the dialogue these days even the English ones.
