politics and religion are two subjects that you can't win however you put your point across ;D However, as a Scot albeit an exiled one I believe Scotland would be better off as a separate nation but there must be a mutual defence system and common currency and probably a few other things as well but I am not qualified to sound off about that. I do consider myself as 'British' and when asked for nationality I always put UK citizen. There is a lot of feeling down south that Scotland survives by what it receives more from Westminster but for many years the opposite was the case. Indeed Central government received more from the tax on whisky alone than it paid back. or so I am led to believe. Whatever happens I wouldn't trust any politician as far as I could throw them and given the chance I will vote UKIP. So there !

I think it is up to the people of Scotland to listen to the debate's and make their own mind up on the subject. I will say this if the British Government, is against a independent Scotland, i believe its because they receive more money from Scotland than they pay out to them.

I tend to agree - but I live in the United Kingdom and I'd prefer it to stay that way, really.
What I do object to is the different way Welsh and Scottish health services treat things like prescription charges. I think we should all be treated the same.

I think it's bizare that this tiny island should be split into separate countries, we should stay the 'United Kingdom' IMHO

I am in two minds to be honest, Westminster gets a huge amount of money with the oil revenue from Scotland, if it goes independant the oil money should be Scottish. I like being British, so i have no idea how i will vote

Geranium's point about the cost of health, etc., should be included in the clarification. I learned that Scottish universities are taking loads of foreign paying students to the detriment of the local applicants who don't have to pay. Salmond is making his own way in history and I do not like or trust him. He has lied many times. However, I think Scotland could pay for itself. I am sitting on the fence on this one.

Alec Salmond lives not far from us, over in Strichen, we see him there hanging over his garden gate talking to folks and going to the bakers in New Pitsligo! Alec Salmond is better than David Cameron any day of the week, but i too wouldn't trust a politician as far as i could chuck them ;D

Independence? Yes, if you can rid yourselves of the idiots in Westminster then go for it! Only problem is, one set of idiots will replaced by another set of idiots = Status Quo.
