Sorted the greenhouse and put the toms in their final places. New stakes needed in some cases. Also started to weed some of the borders. The rain has encouraged the bindweed from next door. Grrrr.
Heavy showers has meant a fits and starts type of day. Hubby managed to trim the privet, after checking for any nests. None sadly or perhaps thankfully. We do have a long tailed tit nest in amongst the ivy.

Too wet and cold to even go out of the house. Looking through the window an awful lot of plants look to have been flattened by the rain.

While it is damp and cool I have had a go at replacing the turf where the cat has killed it in patches. If it works I can do some more later.

repaired the watering drip system in the greenhouse. Now need hubby to sort the drip from the outside tap. I dont have the tools to hand and he knows exactly where they are.
Loaded 6 large crates of plants [50 ish] as I am giving a talk on Iris tonight at a local-ish garden club. It is one of my favourite talks. The group are lovely and always buy plants. I have to make a good selection of plants with a few iris included.

I spent a few hours on the balcony today potting up the Geranium & Pelargonium cuttings I had in the kitchen. Many of them had been crying out to be repotted for some time.
Here is a picture of my finished work!
There are still a few there that I couldn't pot up because I ran out of compost! I will have to do them another day.

Potted up some sweet peas, watered everything in the greenhouse, tied up some of the collapsed plants & roses in the borders & earthed up the potatoes in tubs today.

Just taken the hedge cutters to a very overgrown Lonicera fragrantissima. Can't do much more as the green waste bin is full and very heavy. Might remove the string from the new grass area so that we can roll it, if we can borrow a neighbours light roller.

potted on some primula and aeoniums that had lots of roots coming out the bottom of the pots. I can hear them sighing with relief. A bit like changing out of a fixed waist-banded skirt into elasticated joggers.
It then got too windy to safely stay in the greenhouse as lots of twigs were flying of the mature trees.

Once again I was able to spend some time on the balcony! This morning I put the Lobelia my son bought for me yesterday in the hanging basket that missed out on Monday - I ran out of plants! I also put a few small Geraniums in the basket as well. They will take some time to flower but it was a way of getting them off the balcony floor & they will flower lovely during the summer - even if they are not flowering at present! With a bit of jiggling here & there I managed to find room on the 2 shelving units for all the plants that I potted up yesterday!

grindle you seem to be having a difficult time with the weather in your garden! Hope you haven't had too many losses. But perhaps the damaged plants will recover soon as next week I think will be a little warmer & more stable. 👍

I took the Sedum spectabile out of its pot after 3 years because it was obviously root bound and making little growth. It will be replaced with Osteospermum which should last another 2 or 3 years. Not a lot of gardening, but every little helps.
