I didn't do anything on the balcony yesterday. All I did was to water the Dragon Trees on the bedroom windowsill. They are from cuttings several years old now and in quite big pots but the roots are pushing the plants up and out of the pots!
Unfortunately one seems to be dying 😔. Its growing tip has shrivelled up and lots of leaves have dried up and fallen off. There are about 7 plants but the others seem alright.

weeded and trimmed grass edging on the bottom borders, took everything out of the waterfall pond, cleaned pump and redid water reservoir, put pump back but it's still tripping the electric so have ordered a new one as I can't see the problem and I'm running out of time

Hope you can get the pump sorted out grindle, be careful. I pricked out the last seedlings from the kitchen & put them all in cell trays in the greenhouse & watered everything again.

I went out on to the balcony during the early evening and deadheaded the Petunias on the balcony railings. I noticed that in a lot of pots the compost was shrinking away from the sides of the pots. I'm using a new, to me, peat free compost which I very much liked the feel of. I think it may contain a lot of coir which makes it light & fluffy but which can be difficult to rewet if it gets too dry. I shall have to keep a close eye on it during the summer. Any way, I gave all the pots a good watering and that was the end of my time on the balcony.
I'd almost forgotten, I cleaned the big kitchen window, 3m long (10ft) and and moved as many plants as possible out on to the balcony. Now only the 6 cacti and 3 Money plants remain. They will stay there during the summer as they are the only ones that can survive in the very hot sunshine during the summer. The window faces SW so gets all available sunshine from about 1pm almost till the sun goes down!

been planting as much as I can before the rain arrives, also new pump arrived got it ready to install only to find that the 'waterproof' connector was full of water hence the shorting out, so nothing wrong with the pump, too late to send the new one back as I'd cut the plug off new connector and junction box ordered to arrive today, so will have to wait now for a dry spell to finish it, don't you just love days like that

Oh heck grindle, at least you've got a spare pump now. Received 9 free foxgloves in the post from Gardeners' World magazine & ran down to the greenhouse inbetween the showers & planted them up in a cell tray for now.

I spent an hour on the balcony watering all the pots of plants with fertilizer. Most of the plants are growing nicely, the Petunias are flowering very well too. They are in a dozen pots in rings on the balcony railings. They are only of one colour, dark blue.

Though I didn't do anything on the balcony I did, however, divide & repot a Peace Lily given to me by my son & daughter-in-law for my birthday a month ago! I divided it up into 4 new plants! Three went into decorative pots & put on the living room table & the 4th stayed in the kitchen as it was the smallest piece. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Would be nice if it was ever dry, still or warm enough to go outside.

sorted and labeled plants for open day sale, repotted tomatoes and dahlias growing in the greenhouse and watered. Planted out some mixed salad leaves. Was a bit miffed after spending time sweeping up leaves and bits of branches, now with the latest gales it's all back down again
