Stump removed now. Strange that the roots for this tree were all within the first 6 to 9 inches of soil, None of them went down to any depth. The conifer roots we dug out 5 years ago went deeper and they are supposed to be shallow rooted. Odd!

That's certainly strange, geumgrower! One would have expected them to have gone down several feet!

I haven't done anything today except water a few of the plants in the kitchen & sweep the balcony of pigeon dropping & spilt compost as well as a few leaves. I put some pots back in their original locations & others under the balcony table.

finally got round to sorting the 'extra' irises that I didn't replant, they've been sitting in the wheelbarrow for ages, managed to pot up 7pots for the plant sale next year, one clump was found a space in the garden and the rest has gone for recycling, I then made a start on dismantling the waterfall at the top of the garden

Today I've given the raised bed I finished making yesterday a couple of coats of fence care, painted a fence panel and cut and painted two strips of wood to replace the ones on top of the gate. Hopefully over the next few days I can get on with some work on the ground and planting bulbs.

Only went out for 5 minutes today so didn't do anything. I wanted to pot up the Pansies my son got me some days ago but as I haven't got enough compost I didn't do anything. I will see if I can get some more on Saturday.
Apart from having no compost I felt bad from a sore throat & a tickle in my chest which caused me to cough quite often.

More leaf collecting, but they are coming down like a snow storm at the moment. Moss killer spray on the front paving slabs. Chap came and took some of the Monkey Puzzle wood, but still some left. Still a lot of oak too. Cutting things down and shredding.

Not done anything on the balcony the last couple of days either. But yesterday I spent at least an hour with the plants on our kitchen windowsill,(3m/10ft long), as I removed many to check for fallen &/or dying leaves/flowers. I found some pots with Fuchsia cuttings that had died so I removed them. Some pots were very dry so I watered them. It's very difficult to get at the plants behind the Venetian blinds as there is a long shelf below the window chock-a-block with plants as well!
Today I bought a bag of compost & during the week I will pot up the Pansies my son got for me a week ago. The bag of compost he brought me as well has been emptied into the 3 troughs on the middle bar of the balcony railing in which I planted the Pansies I bought online a month or so ago.
Here is the first of them to open a tiny flower!
