Leaves again. Never ending. My battery leaf vac/shredder isn't up to much so raked leaves into a nice neat row and went over them with lawnmower. My leafmould bin is completely full with shredded leaves and it holds a lot so will need to sort something else out as there are many more leaves yet to fall.

finally cut down the french beans, had lots of perennials in trays that I dug out when doing the pond border, so used all the used compost and potted most of them up, still have more to do.

I cut down the remaining cucumber & tomato plants in the greenhouse & picked dozens of the green tomatoes off to try & ripen them in the kitchen although I think I'll end up making green tomato chutney or something & put the plants in the council green waste bin as they'd had blight. I left one plant as it was still really full of tomatoes & looked reasonably healthy but I think I'll probably take that out as well in the next day or so.

I have picked up horse chestnuts, almonds and acorns on my walks, and my son wants me to grow them on so he can plant them at White House Farm. Is it a good idea to take the hard outer of the acorns? The other seeds are falling out of their covers already.

I used to find many acorns already out of their cups and they tended to germinate well. Remember too a bag of conkers that got left somewhere in the garden and later found quite a few of them had sprouted

I think I'll have to get a bin for leaves, I usually put them in bags and they get muddy

finished potting up the rest of the perennials sitting in trays, I probably won't want many of them but they will be good for our fundraisers. Trimmed all the ivy at the top of the garden, moved pots of plants down near the house, had a good sweep and tidy up, now I can move on to the next part of the garden

made a start with cutting the grass at the other garden while we had a dry spell, cut all the bamboo I removed up, saving some of the better bits as stakes, cleared leaves from the area, started cutting back the iris in the pond

I emptied the 2 hanging baskets at the front door & replanted them with crocus & daff. bulbs & various violas, pansies, primulas & cyclamen.

I've been attacking a bamboo need I say more I imagine that is no easy task grindle .I bought two black bamboos a few years ago and with more knowledge of their invasive nature, i am glad to say that they both died through neglectfully being left in the pots they came in.
