Thank you Sue. it was bad news I'm afraid. the vet took blood and called back a little while ago with the results. Diabetes. that now means injections twice a day so another visit to vet tomorrow to get shown how to do this. Another drain on the finances too but the alternative never even considered.

I didn't realise that cats can get diabetes! What a beautiful boy he is - give him a stroke from me, please.

At least you know what it is now Sweetpea & that it's treatable, won't be very nice having to give him injections though will it. My next door neighbours had a labrador with diabetes years ago, he coped very well with it but my late friend Avril couldn't bring herself to inject him, she made her husband do it but the dog didn't seem to mind, he was very easy going & got used to it. Extra cuddle for brave Chaz from me!

Update on old Chaz. At vet yesterday to have his insulin levels checked but when he came back was acting very strangely so back to the vet. They reckoned his blood pressure was high and that it was actually causing him to be blind which explained the odd behaviour. Anyway they kept him in overnight and we got him home today. the good news being that his sight is now ok and the blood pressure down. Everyone here was very upset and expecting the worst but even the vet bill was happily paid to see him back to 'normal' apart from the diabetes and advancing years. He is about 17 now and one of the best natured cats we have had.

You must be doing something right SP. 17 years is a good age.

That must have been very frightening for Chaz as well as you two when he started to lose his sight, glad he's on the mend again now.
