I thought for a few years now that 'Black cherry' was the sweetest tomato but last year I grew 'Sungold' and these were far sweeter tasting, what's your choice?

I tried Tigrella last year and liked it, it certainly was the best grower of the ones I had last year.

I grew some really tasty ones last year ,red , yellow and orange ones . I like them tangy, but not bitter, don`t like them too "beefy" so to speak . Unfortunately I don`t know what the best ones were as hubby did all the picking into the one bowl. gardeners delight is one I grow every year as I never am out of seed for it. I do like golden sunrise, it`s yellow, especially for grilling .

It's pretty much as i thought then, Sungold has been announced as the sweetest tomato, but it is very much down to personal taste

I think that in Ireland they did a potato tasting with blind people. ( I may be getting mixed up here ) to discover the best tasting potato. Its a bit like the best method of growing something. The one that does it for you is the best and that can be different for different people so always subjective.

On a 'scientific' level the yellow/white toms, usually have a higher Brix (sweetness) reading, and this increased sweetness masks the naturally occuring acid in the tomato.
Plant deep (to increase root growth) give as much warmth and light as possible, and I use microrrhiza to help the roots even more.

I can't remember my favourite tomato last year. I know I love Tomarvellous, can't go wrong with Gardener's Delight and Tigerella lasted the longest. I had better try some Sungold after reading posts from Steve and Bists.

I am updating this thread to agree with steve that Sungold is one I cannot be without now. Yes, it could be the best tasting. Do you still think the same steve?
