What a shame, but not entirely surprising.

Cromer Spring Show has been cancelled because nobody can offer daffodils, tulips or hyacinths and the hellebores have been blown flat. It has been the coldest spring for 50 years. We have the Cornwall spring show on 6th April, I'm wondering if there will be much there this year

Most things seem to have slowed down or stopped growth. Even in the cold greenhouse the shallots, onions, broad beans and even sweet peas seem to be standing still. I wonder if it is the lack of strong sunlight as it has not only been cold here but dull as well, apart from two or three sunny days.

My onions are growing away nicely. They have been under lights though. Dahlias are very slow throwing up the 2nd batch of cutting material. Hopefully when we do get some warmth and sun they'll pick up. Otherwise, i'll have to revert to cuttings from mother plants, something I've never had to do before.

That's not long, is it. The professional growers will be able to exhibit, I'm sure, but 'Joe Public' will have trouble this year!

I make this one the first of the year, it has a very good turnout and most of the nurseries are local ones to Devon and Cornwall. I'm sure I will be able to find something ;D I do have an order of Trollius Alabaster to collect from one of them so I won't go home empty handed The grounds are beautiful

When, oh when are we getting some sun/warmth to speed things up? Maybe we need the guys on here to do a nekkid morris dance to bring the sun to us ;D ;D ;D But on the real subject, my daffies are not out yet, the crocus are just coming out, but i do have shoots appearing on the fuchsia's in the polytunnel, they are fleeced to within an inch of their lives ;D ;D

I think we will miss spring altogether and jump straight into summer.
